Infrastructural Projects

The Srinagar Development Authority has developed Bemina Colony over a land measuring approximately 5000 kanals by way of earth filling, roads, lanes, drains, water supply, electrification, green spaces and other facilities. Maintenance of the infrastructure has been entrusted to line departments viz; PHE, PDD,UEED, R&B etc.

Squatting spaces to Squatters :To provide affordable shopping spaces to squatters a platform type accommodation has been constructed at Batmaloo at a cost of Rs 46.84 lakhs which will provide covered squatting space to 91 squatters. SDA has developed a double Storeyed squatters market at Regional Bus Stand Panthachowk consisting of 280 spaces with cloak room in each floor.

Vegetable Mandi at Sidiqabad, Batamaloo:Vegetable Mandi has been constructed lakhs at Sidiqabad Batmaloo under the self financing scheme . 80 vegetable venders who were selling vegetable on the roadside have been relocated in this Mandi.

Development of Transport Nagar Parimpora Goods and Forwarding Agencies located in various parts of the Srinagar city have been shifted to Parimpora and 76 plots of various sizes has been allotted on concessional terms.. The Transport Nagar is being revamped and rejuvenated by way of development of infrastructure like roads, drainage system, footpaths, central verge, green spaces, electrification.

Urban Transport

i ) Parking Lots:

• SDA has developed parking facilities at Residency Road near SBI, Poloview and Nehrupark, Baqa Masjid, near exhibition etc
• In addition to this a mechanized car parking (for 286 cars) is operational at old KMD Adda Lalchowk.
• SDA has also constructed two multi-level parking projects under AMRUT at State Motor Garages and Sheikhbagh Lalchowk.

• Status of Work Completed All the parkings have been integrated by Smart City Srinagar and are being operated by them under an agreement with SDA

ii) Regional Bus Stand at Panthachowk:
The SDA has also developed a regional bus stand at Panthachowk by way of development of parking spaces , terminal building, workshop complex, squatters market, washrooms and drainage facilities over a land measuring 250 kanals. The Bus Stand is operational .

iii.)Parimpora Bus Stand ; Bus Stand has been made operational over a land measuring about 60 kanals with basic facilities. The work for repair /renovation with drainage with macadamization is in progress.

iv.) Development of Matador/Sumo & Auto Stands; In addition to development of bus terminals, SDA has developed metador/sumo & auto stands at Bemina opposite JVC, Soura and Harwan .

Community Halls :The SDA feels that apart from commercial and developmental activity, it has social commitment as well many of the families of Srinagar city are not in a position to accommodate their ceremonies due to the dearth of space, lower & Middle Income Groups suffer more on this count. To mitigate this problem,SDA has a constructed three community halls at Boatman/EWS Colony Bemina, Rajuri Kadal and Gonikhan. The halls are presently operational and in use for general public. The main features of the Community halls (G+1) are:

• Hall in each floor,
• Washrooms for ladies and gents in each floor,
• Green rooms in each floor and
• Waza shed and parking spaces

In addition to this, work is in progress for community facilitation centres at Bemina and Bagiyas Chattabal

Development of Cycle Track: SDA is developing a cycle track with jogging track and green space over a length of 1.67 kilometers in Bemina under AMRUT MISSION.
